Experience 165 Years of Agricultural Tradition at the Caledon Fair This Weekend

Demolition derby car number 69 with "BUSCHHHHHH" written on the side proudly displays a large Canadian flag while competing at the Caledon Fair, with packed grandstands of spectators in the background watching the exciting motorsport event.

The roar of engines, the laughter of children, and the proud display of our finest livestock – it’s all happening this weekend at the Caledon Fair, where Canadian agricultural heritage comes alive in the heart of Caledon Village.

Since 1860, during Queen Victoria’s reign, our community has gathered to celebrate the traditions that built this great nation. What began as a vital way for pioneers to share knowledge, improve bloodlines, and showcase their finest crops has evolved into a beloved weekend that honours our past while creating new memories for families today.

A Weekend Full of Heart-Pounding Action and Family Fun

Friday kicks off with the thunderous excitement of the Good Times Truck Pullers event at 6:00 PM. Watch as powerful trucks and tractors compete in this classic display of agricultural machinery at its most impressive. Registration begins at 5:30 PM for those brave enough to test their machines against the competition.

Saturday brings the crown jewel of our weekend – the Demolition Derby at 5:30 PM. There’s nothing quite like watching skilled drivers navigate the controlled chaos while proudly waving the Canadian flag, embodying the spirit and resilience that defines our community. The All British Classic Car Show at 10:00 AM offers a gentler appreciation of automotive craftsmanship for those who prefer their vehicles in pristine condition.

Sunday showcases our agricultural roots with the Welsh Pony Show and SportPony Starsearch beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by the Cheval Canadien Horse Show – celebrating Canada’s own heritage horse breed. The Beef and Dairy Show at 11:00 AM and Belgian Horse Display at noon demonstrate the quality livestock that continues to be the backbone of our agricultural community.

Where Tradition Meets Modern Family Entertainment

The Inflatable Play Park ensures young ones stay entertained throughout the weekend, while the Pony Rides and Petting Zoo offer hands-on experiences with gentle farm animals. Parents can explore the Agricultural Awareness Tent and Hall Exhibits, where the educational spirit of our fair’s origins lives on through interactive displays and demonstrations.

The Bavarian Gardens provide a festive atmosphere perfect for families to gather and enjoy traditional fare, while the Knox United Church Food Booth keeps everyone well-fed with hearty, home-style meals starting with breakfast each day.

Community Spirit in Action

This weekend also highlights our community’s generous heart. The Baked Goods Auction on Saturday at 12:30 PM raises funds for Bethell Hospice and the MS Society, proving that our fair continues its tradition of bringing people together for causes that matter. The Fair Ambassador Competition at 11:00 AM on Saturday celebrates young people who embody the values and enthusiasm that keep our agricultural traditions thriving.

Musical entertainment by the Muir Band bookends Saturday’s festivities, creating the perfect soundtrack for a day spent celebrating our heritage.

More Than Entertainment – A Living Heritage

On Sunday, the R&R Pet Paradise POWER PAWS demonstrations showcase the incredible bond between humans and animals that has always been central to farm life. From working dogs to beloved companions, these demonstrations remind us that our connection to animals extends far beyond livestock and agriculture.

Our fair represents something deeply Canadian – the spirit of community, the pride in our agricultural heritage, and the determination to preserve these traditions for future generations. When pioneers first established fairs across the developing nation, they understood that sharing knowledge, celebrating excellence, and bringing communities together would strengthen the fabric of our society.
