NOTE TO ENTRANTS

 

  1. Caledon Agricultural Society will do its utmost to see that all safety precautions are met to protect the public and to safeguard the exhibits/exhibitors but it is up to the exhibitor to see that all animals are well trained, under full control and equipment is in a safe condition. EXHIBITORS OF LIVESTOCK/HORSES MUST CARRY EITHER A LETTER FROM THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY OR A COPY OF THEIR INSURANCE POLICY WHICH MUST INCLUDE A POLICY NUMBER, AN EXPIRY DATE THAT MAKES THE POLICY VALID OVER THE WEEKEND OF THE FAIR, THAT COVERAGE IS AT LEAST $1,000,000.00 AND THAT YOU ARE COVERED FOR SHOWING YOUR ANIMALS AT FAIRS AND EXHIBITIONS.  THIS PROOF MUST BE AVAILABLE AT THE ARRIVAL OF THE FAIR.  A COPY OF THE INSURANCE POLICY WILL NEED TO ACCOMPANY THE ENTRY FORM OR EVENT REGISTRATION.  IN THE EVENT THAT A COPY OF THE INSURANCE IS NOT PROVIDED CALEDON AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PROHIBIT AN EXHIBITOR FROM SHOWING AND/OR PARTICIPATING WITH THEIR LIVESTOCK/HORSE IN ANY FAIR EVENT.
  2. A copy of Insurance policy and/or letter must accompany all entrants’ entry form and will remain on file with the Caledon Agricultural Society. A $5.00 charge payable to the Caledon Agricultural Society will be levied for photocopying services for any entry form that is not accompanied by a copy of the insurance policy/letter.
  3. All riders and drivers under 18 years of age must wear an ASTM approved equestrian helmet and equestrian footwear with a defined heel while riding/driving on the grounds.
  4. Payment of Exhibitor fee and entry fees, and copies of entry forms are to be made by etransfer to Glenda Simeone (Show convenor) at simeone@hotmail.com no later than June 10, 2026. Classes may be added or changes may be made on the day with no additional fee. New entries on show day will be assessed a late fee of $25 each.

 

Rules:     Exhibitors fee $5.00.   Entries to be submitted by Wednesday June 10. Entries submitted on show day will be subject to a $25 per animal late fee. If you have questions, please call Glenda Simeone, 416-697-7792.

BREEDING DIVISION

 

Section AWelsh Mountain Ponies – Registered in Section A of the Welsh Stud Book. Not to exceed 12.2 hands

 

W1.   Youngstock: Two year old & under – colt, filly or gelding

W2.   Broodmare or Yeld Mare: Three year old & over – mare

W3.   Stallion or Gelding: Three year old & over – stallion or gelding

W4.    CHAMPION & RESERVE- SECTION A: Eligible are 1st & 2nd place Youngstock, Mare and Stallion/Gelding.

 

Section B – Welsh Ponies – registered in Section B of the Welsh Stud Book.  Not to exceed 14.0 hands,

 

W5.  Youngstock: Two year old & under – colt, filly or gelding

W6.  Broodmare or Yeld Mare: Three year old & over – mare

W7.  Stallion or Gelding: Three year old & over – stallion or gelding

W8.   CHAMPION & RESERVE- SECTION B: Eligible are 1st & 2nd place Youngstock, Mare and Stallion/Gelding.

 

Section C – Welsh Ponies of Cob Type – not to exceed 13.2 HH, Registered in Section C of the Welsh Stud Book

And  Section D – Cobs- Registered in Section D of the Welsh Stud Book, over 13.2 hands with no upper limit

 

W9.    Youngstock: Two year old & under – colt, filly or gelding

W10.  Broodmare or Yeld Mare Three year old & over – mare

W11.  Stallion or Gelding: Three year old and over – stallion or gelding

W12.  CHAMPION & RESERVE- SECTION C/D: Eligible are 1st & 2nd place Youngstock, Mare and Stallion/Gelding.

 

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS QUALIFIER – SPONSORED BY NORTHWIND FARM

 

  1. a) YOUNGSTOCK: Eligible are the 1st placed ponies/cobs from the Section A 2 & Under class Section B 2 & Under class, and Section C/D 2 & Under class.
  2. b) BROOD MARE OR YELD MARE: Eligible are the 1st placed ponies/cobs from the Section A Mare class, Section B Mare class, and Section C/D Mare class.
  3. c) STALLION/GELDING: Eligible are the 1st placed ponies/cobs from the Section A Stallion/Gelding class, Section B Stallion/Gelding class, and Section C/D Stallion/Gelding class.

In the event that the first-place pony has already qualified then the 2nd placed pony is eligible to compete in their respective section.

 

 

W 13.    SUPREME CHAMPION AND RESERVE: Eligible are Champion & Reserve Section A, Champion & Reserve Section B and Champion & Reserve Section C/D (no entry fee required) .

 

Half Welsh –   Must be REGISTERED IN THE HALF WELSH REGISTRY OF THE WELSH PONY & COB SOCIETY.

W15.  Mare : Three year old & over

W16.  Stallion/ Gelding: Three year old & over

W16    Champion Half-Welsh & Reserve: Eligible are 1st & 2nd placed Youngstock and Mare/Stallion/Gelding.

 

PERFORMANCE DIVISIONS

 

W17.    Senior Showmanship – Exhibitors must be 18 years of age and older as of January 1st of the current year.  – Handler to be judged on the presentation of his or her Welsh Pony, Cob or Half-Welsh.

 

JUNIOR DIVISION

A Junior is an individual who has not reached his or her 18th Birthday as of January 1st of the current year.

Open to Section A,B,C,D and Half Welsh. Stallions are NOT PERMITTED IN THE JUNIOR DIVISION

Riders of classes W20 – W22 are not eligible to enter classes W23 – W24

 

W18.      Junior Showmanship – 10 years of age & under as of January 1 2026. Handler to be judged on presentation of his/her Welsh Pony, Cob or Half-Welsh. –

W19.      Junior Showmanship – 11 – 17 years of age as of January 2 2026.  Handler to be judged on presentation of his/her Welsh Pony, Cob or Half-Welsh.  –

W20.      Child’s Leadline Pony Equitation – walk only -rider to be judged. Riders  7years of age & under as of January 1, 2026. Riders in this class are not eligible for any other ridden class.

W21.      Child’s Leadline Pony – Equitation – walk/ trot. Rider to be judged. Riders 12 years of age and under as of January 1 2026. Riders in this class are not eligible to enter any walk/trot class.

W22.      Child’s Leadline Pony-Pleasure-Walk/trot- Pony to be judged. Riders 12 years of age & under under as of January 1 2026. Riders in this class are not eligible to enter any walk/trot class.

 W23.      Walk/Trot- Equitation Rider to be judged.  Riders 12 years of age & under as of January 1 2026 are eligible. Riders in this class are not eligible to enter any walk/trot/canter classes.

W24.      Walk/Trot Pleasure- Pony to be judged. Riders 12 years Old & under as of January 1 2026 are eligible. Riders in this class are not eligible to enter any walk/trot/ canter classes.

 

DRIVING DIVISION

General information: To be shown both ways of the ring at a flat-footed walk, ordinary trot and strong trot. To stand quietly and back readily. To be judged 60% on manners, performance and style and 40% on breed conformation.

To be shown in a suitable 2 or 4 wheeled pleasure vehicle.  Type of harness is optional.  Adult or Junior to drive.  Drivers to carry a whip and wear a hat, gloves and driving apron.  Drivers under 18 years of age must wear an ASTM approved equestrian helmet. Juniors may not drive stallions.

 

W25       Reinsmanship-Open to Section A,B,C,D & Half-Welsh

W26.      Welsh Pleasure Pony to Drive – Section A&B,

W27.      Welsh Pleasure Pony/Cob to Drive – Section C& D

W28.      Half- Welsh Pleasure Pony to Drive

W29.      Welsh Pleasure Driving Pony/Cob- Junior to Drive- Open to Section A,B,C,D and Half-Welsh

W30.      Pleasure Driving Pony/Cob Championship Stakes- Open to Sections A,B,C,D & Half-Welsh. Eligible are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ponies from classes 26,27 & 28.

 

 

 UNDER SADDLE DIVISION

GENERAL INFORMATION: Entries to be shown both ways of the ring at the walk, trot & canter. To stand quietly and back readily. To be judged 60% on manners, performance & style and 40% on breed type & conformation unless otherwise specified. .

W31.      Junior Equitation Under Saddle – mare or gelding – Open to Section A, B, C, D & Half Welsh

W32.      Senior Equitation Under Saddle- Open to Sections A,B,C,D & Half Welsh

W33.      Welsh Pleasure Pony Under Saddle – Junior or Adult to ride – Section A & B – mare, gelding, stallion (Junior may not ride a stallion)

W34.      Welsh Pleasure Pony Under Saddle – Junior or Adult to ride – Section C & D – mare, stallion or gelding (Junior may not ride stallions)

W37.      Half-Welsh Pony Under Saddle – Adult or Junior to ride– mare, gelding or stallion. (Juniors may not ride Stallion)

W38.      Pleasure Pony/Cob Under Saddle Championship Stakes – Open to Sections A,B,C,D & Half Welsh (Juniors may not ride Stallions.)

SPORTPONY STARSEARCH CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER

Sunday June 21, 2026 After the Welsh classes.

First place winners in classes 1 – 8 qualify for the 2026 SportPonyStarsearch Challenge Cup at the Royal Winter Fair

If the first place pony has already qualified at a previous show in 2026, the 2nd place pony becomes the qualifier. It is the responsibility of the 2nd place handler to obtain this information at the time of placing from the 1st place handler. Ponies will be measured at the Royal and must be 14.2hh and under in order to compete there.  In order to qualify, there MUST BE at least 2 entries in a class.

 

Rules: Ponies must measure 14.2HH or less

Passport and registration is not necessary, nor must the pony be a registered Sport Pony to compete

(Stallions can only be handled by adults who are 18 years and older)

SP 6. Sport Pony Breeding Class- 3 year old and over stallion.

 

Senior and Reserve Champion (1st and 2nd place winners of classes SP4 – SP6 to compete) Prize: $25 Senior.

 

Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion – (Junior and Senior Champions and Reserve Champions to compete). Prize for Grand Champion $25,  Grand $25,

 

SP 7. Sportpony Under Saddle- Suitable for Hunter/Jumper – 3 year old and over – mare, gelding or stallion
